I don’t know a ton about Jewish history, but I do know that back in the days when Jesus walked the earth, all Jewish boys had to memorize the Torah. They sat under teaching of the Law as they grew, and eventually, the best of the best were able to become disciples of a Rabbi. The hope is that they too would one day become a Rabbi.
Those who didn’t make the cut were instead sent back home to learn the family trade. If dad was a fisherman, than they would learn to be fishermen. If he was a carpen...
