It seems like playing guitar has become the most prominent instrument for worship leaders to lead with. I think that is because with an acoustic guitar you have some control over rhythm, tempo, drive, and dynamics of the song. It also gives you the freedom to repeat an unexpected chorus without totally losing the band for the first half.
