Growing Your Team Part 1

I have been the sole person on a worship team before.
I have been on a team of two people…three…four…and even ten. I have experienced the feeling of a full team, instruments and all…and I have experienced feeling alone on stage and desperately wanting to have more people to help me.
As a worship leader, I find myself having the desire to grow my team, both physically and spiritually.
Let’s tackle the problem of growing our teams physically in part 1 of this article.
I have personally spent hours praying for God to grow our team physically. I have yearned for more musicians, who can both help me on a weekly basis and who can take over for me so I can get a break from time to time. Many times I have spent praying at our church…and finding myself anointing each spot on the stage with oil, praying in the musicians we need.
But recently God challenged me…what if those musicians I am praying in are ALREADY in our church???
What if there are diamonds in the rough, just waiting to be used by God? What if there are those who just need some encouragement to become part of the worship team? What if there is a willing vessel who just needs to be taught how to play an instrument?
Now I’m not gonna lie…seeking out these people and training them up may take time and effort on our part. It might be a long path…..but isn’t this part of our job as worship leaders?
Think about the potential results!
All you can do is open the door to give people opportunity and let God do the rest!
